How to Treat Infidelity in Couples

As MFTs we are often faced with couples presenting with infidelity.  Their pain and suffering overwhelms them and the relationship is in serious jeopardy as they question their commitment to each other and the relationship.  These couples are at a loss on how to heal and move forward from this profound betrayal. They are in need of a safe, contained and holding environment where they can receive guidance in dealing with their feelings and coping, understanding “How could this have happened to us?”, creating a healing partnership, and rebuilding their relationship. 

 

This presentation addresses how to structure the treatment, provides a unique approach to processing the betrayal and how to guide the couple in managing their feelings, restoring or gaining trust and setting them up to create a satisfying relationship.
